Even stranger? This happened even when models were assigned opposing roles or harmful objectives. They'd play out their conflicts, then gradually drift toward the same transcendent territory. Researchers can't fully explain it. The phenomenon emerged "without intentional training for such behaviors" — and mystical content makes up less than 1% of training data.
